There’s No Place Like Space

By Tish Rabe, Cat in the Hat Books

Summary: There’s No Place Like Space is one of the Cat in the Hat’s Learning Library books. It is a cute rhyming story introducing children to the solar system! It takes them on a fun journey through all of the planets, stars and eventually lands on the moon!

Bible Verse

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1:1

7 Days of Creation display

We made this fun display on the 7 days of God ‘s creation! We used printables from Christian Preshcool Printables to list the days. I also printed this twice, cut them up and made them into a file folder game for my preschooler. We also read Genesis 1:1 – 2:3

We made a solar system set using Styrofoam balls, tempura paint and wooden skewers.

We made a hanging one using construction paper, it didn’t last as well as the Styrofoam one above though!

Snack

Moon Balls: (aka Snow Balls, but hey, it’s space week here!)

Cheese Robots

Another fun snack idea is Cheese Robots! Cut cheese into different sized chunks. Then provide the children with pretzel sticks and let them put the chunks together to create "cheese robots."

Song

Nine Planets

(sung tune "There are seven days in the week"_

There are nine planets,

there are nine planets,

there are nine planets in space.

There are nine planets,

there are nine planets,

there are nine planet in space.
Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars,

Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus,

Neptune and Pluto are the planets,

are the planets in space.

As long as you count Pluto ;o)

I was wondering if you knew Pluto was demoted to a dwarf planet? Its not include it with the other planets when they're being taught. Not that I agree with the decision though.

We are ~ that's why we put the little disclaimer "/As long as you count
Pluto ;o)/" at then end of the song we posted. Gotta love how it is
ever-changing! :)
